Potenza Amazing

Botox® / Xeomin®

What are they?
Both products are made from purified proteins. They act by blocking nerve transmission, which results in relaxation of the underlying muscles, helping to smooth fine lines and wrinkles.

What are they used for?
They do not fill space or add volume. Instead, it relaxes muscles. This helps prevent them from contracting, which smooths out lines and prevents further etching of wrinkles.

Areas often treated include:

  • Horizontal forehead lines
  • Frown lines
  • Fine wrinkles on bridge of nose (bunny lines)
  • Eyebrow shaping
  • Crows feet
  • Lipstick lines or smoker’s lines
  • Marionette lines
  • Gummy smile
  • Chin creasing/pebbling
  • Nasal tip elevation
  • Nasal flaring
  • Masseter reduction
  • TMJ treatment
  • Axillary hyperhidrosis
  • Necklace lines

What can I expect?
Results are typically seen within 3 to 7 days and generally last between 3 to 6 months. Lines that are deep may only be softened, while lines that are mild to moderate in depth may be erased after several treatments.

Possible side effects can include a headache, flu-like symptoms, bruising, nausea, and hypersensitivity reactions. About 5% of patients report transient eyelid or brow droop, or eyelid swelling. This may last 2 to 4 weeks and in rare instances may last 3 months or greater. Even more rare complications include shortness of breath and anaphylaxis.

Contraindications:

  • Nursing, pregnancy, or attempting to become pregnant.
  • Allergy to eggs, albumin, or any component of Botox or Dysport.
  • Active injection at the injection site.
  • Concomitant use with muscle relaxers or aminoglycosides.

Dermal Fillers

What are they?
The Revance® family of fillers are products composed of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance that, in the skin, forms the fluid matrix in which collagen fibers are embedded. The amount of hyaluronic acid in the skin decreases with age, resulting in loss of volume, increased wrinkling, and reduced dermal hydration. With the use of dermal fillers which also absorb water, we can restore that volume loss to enhance one’s appearance. The goal is to restore some features while maintaining a very natural look.

Radiesse® is made from calcium hydroxylapatite; this is a mineral found in human teeth and bones. The calcium is suspended in a water-based, gel-like solution, a microsphere. After stimulating collagen growth, the calcium and the gel are absorbed by the body over time. These calcium-based microspheres are used for a vast variety of corrections and preventions throughout the face and body, and since it stimulates your body’s production of collagen, the skin’s strength and elasticity can dramatically improve with its use.

Areas often treated include:

  • Smile lines (nasolabial folds)
  • Lip lines or marionette lines
  • Lip sculpting
  • Lip augmentation
  • Cheek augmentation
  • Chin augmentation
  • Under-eye filling
  • Midface volumizing
  • Jawline contouring
  • Hand rejuvenation
  • Treatment of scars
  • Temporal augmentation

Microcannula Technique
Dr. Yavari and Dr. Weiner both utilize a non-traumatic flexible blunt tip needle for the safe injection of all types of fillers.

Hyperdilute Radiesse®

What is it and how does it work?
Radiesse® is a calcium hydroxyapetite filler that is well-established to be an excellent collagen stimulator. In recent years, it has been used in hyperdiluted form as a biostimulatory agent instead of a “volumizer” or as a classic filler. In using Radiesse in this diluted form, we are able to improve skin quality and firmness without the unnatural appearance of thick filler use.
This virtually painless, nonsurgical option to rejuvenate multiple regions of the face and body is how one’s own body is able to stimulate and restore the tightness it has lost in the natural aging process or with laxity that often occurs due to weight loss.

The amount of dilution, and number of treatments varies for the biostimulation/skin tightening treatment based on the degree of skin laxity and the skin thickness.

Areas with loss of volume and with skin laxity that are well-treated with HD-Radiesse (hyperdilute):
Face
Neck and Decolletage
Abdomen
Arms
Knees
Elbows
Buttocks and Thighs

-One syringe is typically sufficient for most face and body regions.
-Appointment time is 60 to 90 minutes.
-Little to no downtime, some bruising and swelling can last for up to 10 days in some patients. Post-procedure pain is minimal, some “tightness” can be expected in the treated areas, with some mild tenderness for the first 48 hours after treatment.

As always, Dr. Yavari is happy to answer any questions and consultations are always free. Call (970)-818-2280 to schedule your free consultation appointment.

Microneedling with PRP

What is it?
Microneedling is also known as collagen induction therapy and is an effective anti-aging procedure that creates controlled micro-injuries, which trigger the remodeling of collagen and elastin. It is minimally- invasive and is one of the gentlest ways to dramatically improve the appearance of your skin. Using multiple microscopic needles to penetrate the top layers of the skin, Skinpen® creates very small wound patterns to break old collagen chains. This triggers the healing process to create new cells that are tighter and softer over time. It smooths the appearance of wrinkles, scars, and stretch marks. For the ultimate skin rejuvenation, pair the microneedling treatment with your own platelet-rich plasma.

With the use of the SkinPen® and the technology of harvesting your body’s own healing properties, Dr. Yavari is able to dramatically improve the texture of your skin.

How?

Your blood is full of platelets that contain growth factors which can help with wound healing.  By concentrating those platelets through an in-office procedure we can create platelet-rich plasma (PRP).

That PRP, or “liquid gold” is processed from your blood draw in the office using PRP kits specifically designed to reach the desired concentration of PRP for maximum benefits.

The microneedling device creates thousands of microchannels directly into the dermis where your fibroblasts and capillaries are working. By infusing that layer during the treatment with PRP, Dr. Yavari is essentially bringing those concentrated growth factors that your dermal layer needs to regenerate and revitalize itself.

By targeting the outer layer of skin with PRP, your body’s own growth factors do the all healing and restoration.

Microneedling with PRP is essentially the fountain of youth.

What can I expect?
Healing times may vary, though most patients see results in one day to a week after treatment. Immediately after treatment, you may notice a red appearance in the areas treated or in rare cases pinpoint bleeding. Just one treatment can dramatically enhance the appearance of skin texture and brighten your complexion. More advanced skin conditions like acne scarring may need more than one
session. The number of treatment sessions required will be determined during your consultation with Dr. Yavari.

Contraindications:

  • Active acne
  • Herpes labialis (cold sore) or any other local infection such as a wart
  • Moderate to severe psoriasis or eczema
  • Blood dyscrasias, patients on anticoagulant therapy
  • Extreme keloidal tendency
  • Patient on chemotherapy or radiation

What should I do after my treatment?
Continue to treat the skin gently for three days after microneedling. Use a gentle cleanser and tepid water to cleanse the face, always make sure your hands are clean when touching the treated area. Avoid Clarisonic or other powered cleansing brushes. Use a chemical-free sunscreen, and if possible please avoid intentional direct sunlight for these first days after the procedure. You can resume your normal skincare routine after day 3 post-treatment. If you experience any adverse effect, please contact us.

Kybella®

Kybella is a PERMANENT FAT DISSOLVING solution to a heavy neck/jawline. UNLIKE Botox® or dermal fillers, this treatment is permanent. Your results depend on the amount of excess fat you have under your chin. Most patients begin seeing results 3-4 weeks post-injection.

After Dr. Yavari assesses the treatment area, she will mark and grid the anatomic target zone. This process ensures equal delivery of the Kybella, so there is no risk of contour irregularity. The treatment area is subsequently numbed with a few injections of lidocaine to ensure there is no pain or discomfort from the Kybella treatment. An ice pack is applied while the numbing medicine takes its effect. After a period of 5-10 minutes, Dr. Yavari injects Kybella to the area of interest. This is a virtually painless process. Ice packs are reapplied for 5-10 minutes. The Kybella permanently destroys the fat cells.

How Many Kybella Treatments Will I Need?

Most patients generally require 3-4 treatment sessions about one month apart to see their optimal results. In subsequent treatments, patients usually experience substantially less swelling and bruising than the first round of treatment. Patients also notice improved contouring and skin tightness in the neck as each treatment continues.

The most common side effects include:

  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Pain
  • Numbness
  • Redness
  • Areas of hardness in the treatment area

PRP Information

What is PRP?

PRP or Platelet Rich Plasma is the liquid part of blood (plasma) that has been separated from the red blood cells and white blood cells and concentrated with a higher proportion of platelets than would normally be found in blood.  Platelets are typically thought of as being important in the clotting of blood.  However, they also contain large amounts of growth factors.  These growth factors have a significant role in healing tissues after injuries.  PRP can dramatically increase the concentration of platelets in the plasma and therefore increases the amount of growth factors as well.

How is PRP created?

PRP is made by drawing blood from a patient and then using a centrifuge to separate the different parts of the blood.  The plasma and platelets are drawn up and then plasma is removed until the desired concentration of platelets is achieved.  Typically, effective levels of platelets are between 5 to 7 times the concentration found in normal blood.  This highly concentrated plasma is then used for injection or other treatments in the same patient.

How does PRP work?

The increased concentration of platelets, and therefore growth factors, have been shown to speed up and enhance the bodies natural healing process.  Using targeted injections of PRP, we can stimulate healing to occur exactly where it is needed.  PRP is often referred to as regenerative medicine due to it’s ability to promote the body to heal tissues.

What can PRP treat?

PRP is emerging as an effective treatment for a variety of problems.  Most traditionally, PRP has been used to treat sports and musculoskeletal injuries.  Ligament and tendon strains are common uses and many professional athletes have turned to PRP to help speed up recovery from injuries that used to be reserved to medications, physical therapy or surgeries.  PRP treatments have been shown to be effective for joint pain due to osteoarthritis or wear and tear injuries that may typically require steroid injections or even surgery as well.

But, that’s not all.  PRP is often times being used for more cosmetic reasons as well.  Treating the skin with PRP therapy can greatly reduce wrinkles, scars, and imperfections and help promote collagen repair that helps bring out the more youthful looking skin.   PRP also has been shown to be very effective in promoting hair regrowth for problems with baldness or thinning hair.

PRP at Arktos Direct Care.

At Arktos, we use PRP in a variety of ways.  Dr. Hampton uses PRP as an enhancement to prolotherapy treatments for various musculoskeletal problems and also as targeted joint injections for pain from osteoarthritis.  Dr. Yavari will often recommend PRP with microneedling procedures for a variety of skin issues.  This treatment has become very popular and is sometimes referred to as a “PRP facial” or “golden mask”.

Not all Platelet Rich Plasma is the same!
Rebound PRP Kits from Enso Doctors (Platelet Rich Plasma)

PRP Kit

At Arktos Direct Care, we have spent a lot of time researching the best options and systems to offer our patients the most effective PRP treatments available.

Whether you’re seeing Dr. Hampton for prolotherapy injections or Dr. Yavari for aesthetics, you have the confidence of a PRP processing system that is above and beyond.

PRP extraction systems concentrate the elements of your blood that trigger regeneration and repair. It involves extracting your own blood, spinning it down to get rid of the red blood cells and concentrating the remaining plasma, platelets, and other growth factors to create that “liquid gold” to be used. It is important to note that to deliver effective treatment results, the concentration of platelets must reach around five to seven times the patient’s normal baseline levels.

We exclusively use Rebound PRP kits from Enso Doctors. These kits allow us to deliver optimal platelet concentrations that have been scientifically validated. This allows use to achieve the desired concentration of platelets compared to normal blood.  It’s this concentration that gives our patients great results.

What should I do before my PRP procedure?

We ask that you drink lots of fluids before the procedure to stay hydrated, it makes it easier for the doctor to draw your blood. Other than that, there are no other preparations needed. You can eat and drink normally. If you are having a prolotherapy with PRP procedure with Dr. Hampton, please discontinue using any NSAIDs like naproxen (Aleve) or Ibuprofen (Motrin) for 2 weeks before your PRP procedure

Call us today to set up a free consultation for discussing PRP treatments or to schedule your therapy.
